Faculty from the Department of Emergency Medicine recently attended the 2023 Scientific Assembly hosted by the New York American College of Physicians (NYACEP). The conference is an opportunity to learn about the state of emergency medicine in New York and connect with colleagues from across the state. Dr. Mark Curato served as the conference chair.

Awards & Honors
Dr. Manish Sharma, NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, and Dr. Laura Melville, NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, were elected to the NYACEP Board of Directors.
NYACEP represents more than 3,100 dedicated professionals. Its mission is to support quality emergency medical care and to promote the interest of emergency physicians. NYACEP strives to promote efficient and effective utilization practices in the delivery of emergency services. As members of the board, Drs. Sharma and Melville will assist with developing goals and policies, setting future directions for the chapter, approving annual budgets, and electing officers and councilors. Their terms will begin in July 2023 and continue for a period of three years.
Dr. Brenna Farmer was named 2023 NYACEP Physician of the Year. The award is given to a physician in recognition of their contributions to the advancement of emergency medicine in New York State.
