Medical Student Education

The Department engages in several initiatives designed to nurture future healthcare leaders. Among them are a healthcare leadership and management scholars program for medical students, a physician wellness program, and a telemedicine and digital healthcare elective for Weill Cornell Medical College students, one of the first of its kind in the country.

The First Responder Course empowers Weill Cornell first-year medical students to become confident first responders in emergency situations outside of hospital settings.

Our Healthcare Leadership and Management Scholars program prepares medical students for future leadership roles in Emergency Medicine.

Through this immersive experience, students learn to manage the undifferentiated patient, hone procedural skills, and participate in inter-professional teams under direct supervision of an emergency medicine attending.

We harness the combined excellence of two academic Departments of Emergency Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian, Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University, to provide an unparalleled experience for medical students seeking a career in emergency medicine.

Our Telehealth elective exposes students to the various aspects of telemedicine as a novel method for delivery of care.
