Patrick Shanahan, Financial Operations Analyst, Joins Department of Emergency Medicine

We are pleased to announce that Patrick “Pat” Shanahan has joined the department as our financial operations analyst, effective April 11, 2022.

Pat will be responsible for preparing annual budget submissions and projections; monitoring and analyzing budget variances; assisting with business plan development and managing departmental procurement, disbursement and reimbursement activities. Pat’s responsibilities will also include all time management functions and will also work closely with Matthew Laghezza on revenue cycle initiatives.

Pat has an extensive background in budgeting and financial management in an academic setting. His career in higher education began as a desk assistant in student housing while he was still an undergraduate student at Montclair State University (MSU). Pat worked his way up from student worker to director at MSU’s The Heights residence hall where he oversaw a multi-million-dollar annual budget and served almost 2,000 residents across an eight-building complex. Pat’s experiences in Residence Life sparked his interest in a career in academia.

Pat holds both a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree, with a concentration in accounting, in business administration.
