Emergency Medicine Approved as Core Clerkship by Executive Medical Education Committee

We are delighted to announce that Emergency Medicine has officially been approved as a core clerkship by the Executive Medical Education Committee for Weill Cornell Medical College. This is a momentous landmark for the Department of Emergency Medicine as we continue to expand our educational programs and initiatives.

The clerkship was developed by Dr. Kaushal Shah and Dr. Mary Mulcare, and is led by Dr. Mark Curato, Clerkship Director, and Dr. Tina Mathew, Assistant Clerkship Director. The clerkship offers medical students the opportunity to experience the full breadth of emergency medicine, from learning how to perform a focused history and develop a differential diagnosis, to performing a number of procedural skills and managing acutely sick patients. As part of the clerkship, students are also given an introduction into the rapidly expanding area of emergency telemedicine by our Center for Virtual Care (CVC) faculty.

Over the last year, the feedback from medical students has been universally positive. We look forward to welcoming the next generation of emergency medicine leaders in the upcoming school year!
