Dr. Michael Alfonzo and Dr. Anthony Yuen Appointed Liaison for Informatics & Analytics in the Department of Emergency Medicine

Please join the department in congratulating Dr. Michael Alfonzo and Dr. Anthony Yuen on their appointment to Liaison for Informatics & Analytics in the Department of Emergency Medicine.  
 
In their new roles, Dr. Yuen and Dr. Alfonzo will formally join the ED Informatics & Analytics team under the direction of Dr. Jean Scofi, Director of Informatics & Analytics for the Department of Emergency Medicine. They will act as liaisons to the ED staff for all Epic-related topics, including sourcing issues from clinicians and leadership, helping to identify feasible solutions, and serving as a resource for Epic features, upgrades, and clinical/reporting tools. They will also assist with ongoing ED Epic optimization and reporting projects to improve EMR usability and patient care.   
 
Dr. Alfonzo joined the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics in 2015. He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, completed a pediatrics residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine, and a Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. Dr. Alfonzo is a certified Cogito Power User and Epic Physician Builder, and has participated in Epic Go-Live, optimization and maintenance initiatives since 2017. He also directs the Global Health Track of the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship, including creating a pediatric clinical information network for the Weill Bugando Medical Center in Mwanza, Tanzania. 
 
Dr. Yuen joined the Department of Emergency Medicine faculty in 2018. He has a background in mechanical and space engineering, earned his medical degree from the University of Queensland, Australia, and completed his residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Yuen is a certified Epic Power User, Cogito Power User, and expert for Epic Reporting Workbench. He is also the physician lead for the development of an enterprise Care Coordination documentation system and the Director of the Simulation-based Discharge Program in the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Yuen completed the Leadership in Academic Medicine Program (LAMP) in 2020 and is a member of the American Medical Informatics Association.
