Dr. Mary Mulcare, assistant professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine, has been appointed assistant director of the Margaret and Ian Smith Clinical Skills Center at Weill Cornell Medicine.
Dr. Mulcare has been core faculty for the clinical skills center (CSC) for two years. In her new role, Dr. Mulcare will help oversee the operations and educational content of the CSC. The Margaret and Ian Smith Clinical Skills Center offers a safe and controlled environment where medical students can practice clinical skills. It includes a patient simulator suite, where students can practice clinical skills on high-tech mannequins, as well as 10 outpatient and two in-patient rooms, where students can treat standardized patients who recreate clinical scenarios.
Thus far in her career at WCM, Dr. Mulcare has held several leadership roles including director of Undergraduate Medical Education in the Department of Emergency Medicine, assistant director of the Healthcare Leadership and Management Scholars Program for medical students between the first and second year at WCM, assistant director of the Geriatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Weill Cornell, and assistant program director for the EM residence at NYPH. Additionally, Dr. Mulcare has made major contributions to the fields of medical education and Geriatric Emergency Medicine.
