Dr. Flavio Gaudio Receives 2019-2020 Jeanne and Herbert Siegel Award for Excellence in Emergency Medicine

Dr. Flavio Gaudio has been named the 2019-2020 recipient of the Jeanne and Herbert Siegel Award for Excellence in Emergency Medicine. The award recognizes an Emergency Medicine faculty member who has demonstrated clinical excellence, professional achievement, innovation, and dedication to the field of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Gaudio is an assistant professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine and medical director of the Nurse Practitioner Program in Emergency Medicine who has made significant contributions to the Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Gaudio was the founding medical director of both the Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner Program and the Nurse Practitioner Residency in Emergency Medicine. In 2006, Dr. Gaudio co-founded the Wilderness and Environmental Medicine (WEM) program to promote teaching and research on medical care in remote and austere environments. Nationally and internationally, Dr. Gaudio is a well-respected researcher and a highly reputable expert on wilderness and environmental medicine. His publications on anaphylaxis, and clinical guidelines on heat illness and heat stroke in the field are considered standard reference for professional guides and wilderness first responders in the United States and abroad.

Dr. Gaudio will be recognized during Weill Cornell Medicine’s Convocation activities in May, 2021.
