Dr. Chris Belardi Honored for Exemplary Service to Weill Cornell Medicine and the City of New York

The Board of Fellows of Weill Cornell Medicine has passed a resolution honoring Dr. Chris Belardi, clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine and assistant attending physician, “for his many services to our Medical Center” and as “an expression of the Board’s gratitude and recognition for his exemplary service to Weil Cornell Medicine and the City of New York.”

The Board noted that, during the past three years at Weill Cornell Medicine, Dr. Belardi “touched the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Medical Center in many ways and has been an inspiration as a clinician, an educator, and a person.  He epitomizes the values that the medical profession and Weill Cornell Medicine hold most dear, and we are deeply grateful to have him as a member of our community.”

The Board, in its resolution, also wished Dr. Belardi “a continuing successful recovery from Covid-19.”

“I’m humbled and honored. I was always thrilled to walk through the main door of the hospital or through the medical school doors knowing those that had gone before me. Being part of Cornell gives me great pride. It has been the highlight of my career,” Dr. Belardi said.  He added, “Being with the residents, PAs, NPs, and ED staff and experiencing their excitement for learning was good for my soul. Truly the house of God, in the good connotation.  Thank you so much!”

Dr. Belardi joined the Department of Emergency Medicine in 2017.  When COVID-19 began to surge in New York City in March, 2020, Dr. Belardi was part of the cadre of emergency medicine physicians on the front lines.  He was subsequently diagnosed with COVID-19 and admitted to the hospital on March 28.  After 164 days in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, Dr. Belardi was discharged on September 8, 2020.

Dr. Belardi earned his medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and completed his residency at the Allegheny General Hospital.  Over the course of his career, he has held many leadership roles including Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro.
