Dr. Abdul-Aziz Ahmed Named 2021 New York ACEP Unsung Hero

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Abdul-Aziz Ahmed on being named one of the 2021 New York American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Unsung Heroes.

Dr. Ahmed was nominated for the award by his fellow faculty members, who recognized his quiet contributions to and lasting impact on our department. A patient of his recently sent in a thank you note that said:

“I was a patient in the ER. I will never forget your care and kindness, and can't thank you and NYP for everything you did that evening! You were there when I arrived by ambulance and released later with an oxygen concentrator, making certain to ask if I had money to get home (I did). I've since recovered from COVID pneumonia, thanks to you, Dr. Ahmed."

In addition to his high-level professionalism and fantastic bedside manner, Dr. Ahmed has made substantial educational contributions to all levels of learners. He has been a mentor for pre-medical students through our DiversifiED Summer Apprenticeship Program, lecturer/facilitator at resident conference, and is co-Director of the Sports Medicine Academic Track.

Dr. Ahmed graduated from Albert Einstein School of Medicine, and completed his residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Emergency Medicine Department (now part of Mount Sinai). He also completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Northwell Health. Dr. Ahmed started an ED Orthopedics Clinic within the Department of Emergency Medicine in 2017.

Congratulations again to Dr. Ahmed!
