Dr. Matthew McCarty, assistant professor of clinical emergency medicine, will become the next Director of Quality Assurance for the Department of Emergency Medicine at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, effective January 1, 2020.
In his new role, Dr. McCarty will oversee all quality assurance initiatives for the NYP-Weill Cornell Medical Center campus. He will work closely with departmental and hospital leadership, Nursing, Patient Services and others to ensure that the Department continues its mission of providing the highest quality care to our patients.
Dr. McCarty joined the Department of Emergency Medicine in July 2019, from New York University, as the Assistant Director of Quality Assurance and is currently an assistant professor of clinical emergency medicine. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and his MD from NYU School of Medicine. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Emergency Medicine Safety and Quality at NYU and Bellevue Departments of Emergency Medicine. He was also named a future leader in the High Value Practice Academic Alliance and is involved in several quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing the delivery of safe, efficient and effective care to our patients.
The Department expresses its deepest thanks to Dr. Jose Fernandez, who has provided exceptional service in his role as director of Quality Assurance for the Department of Emergency Medicine at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Fernandez will continue on in a leadership role as an advisor to our Quality Assurance and Patient Safety Initiatives.
