Weill Cornell Emergency Medicine Ranked in Top 15 Nationally in NIH Research Funding

We are excited to announce that the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research has just ranked our department 14th nationally in National Institute of Health (NIH) research funding for 2023.  Aside from the fact that this is our highest ranking to date, this is a notable milestone for our department because we were unranked just five years ago.

We have spent the last few years continuing to advance and influence emergency care through innovation and research and have made important strides in research since Weill Cornell elevated Emergency Medicine to a full academic department in 2018.

Thanks to the hard work of our research teams, we have also experienced a 362 percent increase in sponsored research— which includes a 225 percent increase in grants from the National Institutes of Health—and achieved a 230 percent surge in publications. Our new ranking reflects these efforts.

Congratulations to our faculty and staff whose dedication and vision have contributed to this achievement and to the success of our department.
