Dr. Deborah Levine Named APA 2021 Research Scholar

Dr. Deborah Levine has been named a 2021 Research Scholar for the Academic Pediatric Association (APA) Research Scholars Program.

The APA Research Scholars Program is a three-year faculty development program that trains pediatric clinician-educators and clinician-researchers to develop needed research skills for enhancing their academic credentials. Through a combination of coursework, peer-mentoring, webinars, and conference workshops, research scholars develop skills in planning, implementing, and writing research projects.

Dr. Levine is an assistant professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine and assistant professor of Clinical Pediatrics. Since joining the Department of Emergency Medicine, she has been actively involved in a variety of projects. Her academic research interests include infectious diseases in neonates and children, concussion, and injury prevention. Most recently, Dr. Levine successfully published two papers on COVID-19 in children. Currently, Dr. Levine is the lead investigator of a multi-center project, including 21 sites in the New York metropolitan area, examining predictors for multi-system inflammatory disease in children.

Dr. Levine earned her medical degree at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. She completed her pediatric residency at New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center and her pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at New York University / Bellevue Hospital Center.
