Drs. David Bodnar and Matthew T. Nguyen have been named the 2025 Physician of the Year at NYP-Weill Cornell Medical Center and NYP-Lower Manhattan Hospital respectively.
The annual award is presented by Departments of Nursing across all of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital’s main campuses. It celebrates collegiality, collaboration, and physicians’ contributions to NYP’s nursing practice. The award is given to physicians who show competence and compassion in the clinical setting and cooperate with Nursing to attain the highest standards of quality patient care.
In accepting the award, both Drs. Bodnar and Nguyen acknowledged the critical contributions of nursing and other services, including patient care, transport, social services, environmental services, laboratory and radiology services, to the success of the emergency department. "To the techs, APPs, social workers, care coordinators, registrars, unit clerks and everyone else who keeps this place running, you make this place what it is and I'm grateful to you. I'm truly appreciative to receive this award, but I'm really most proud to be part of this team," said Dr. Bodnar.
"Four years of medical school and a few years of training may have taught me how to fix some problems here and there, but the nurses have been the ones who have taught me the most about how to take care of people," said Dr. Nguyen said in his acceptance speech.
The Department of Emergency Medicine congratulates Drs. Bodnar and Nguyen on this prestigious honor.
