Dr. David Bodnar Appointed Site Director for NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital Emergency Department

We are pleased to announce that Dr. David Bodnar has been appointed site director for the Emergency Department at NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital (NYP/LMH). Dr. Bodnar has served as interim director of LMH since April 2022.
In his new role, Dr. Bodnar will oversee all day-to-day clinical activities at NYP-LMH including clinical care, patient experience, community outreach, and quality review. He will also work closely with Nursing and hospital leadership to ensure the highest quality patient-centered care is provided to all of our patients.
Dr. Bodnar brings tremendous leadership and administrative experience in ED clinical services to this new role. Over his career at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM), he has spearheaded several process improvement initiatives including the revised administrative attending role, NYP’s QPS Timeout Project, the ED Early Analgesic project, the peer-review published SBP Project, ED Radiology, patient navigators, MyEDCare, and launch of WCM ED/Cohen Hospital operational collaboration.
“David is a demonstrated leader who has made significant contributions to our Department’s quality, patient experience, and operational initiatives over the years. I am confident that he will continue to lead the team at LMH with the same commitment to providing the best possible care for our patients that he has shown throughout his career,” said Dr. Rahul Sharma, professor and chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at WCM.
Dr. Bodnar received the NYP/LMH Physician of the Year Award in 2018 for, among other things, his consistent positive demeanor with patients, his sincere appreciation for nursing, and his willingness to lead by example. The annual award, given by the Department of Nursing, recognizes physicians, fellows, house staff, and medical students who show competence and compassion in the clinical setting, and who work together with nurses to attain the highest standards of quality patient care.
Dr. Bodnar graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his emergency medicine residency at NYP/Weill Cornell and Columbia, where he was chief resident.
