Department of Emergency Medicine Announces New Clinical Leadership Appointments

We are excited to announce two new clinical leadership appointments within the Department of Emergency Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM), effective October 1, 2023.
Dr. David Bodnar has been appointed Director of Clinical Services for the NewYork-Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center (NYP-WCMC) Emergency Department. He previously served as Site Director of the NewYork-Presbyterian-Lower Manhattan Hospital (NYP-LMH) Emergency Department. Dr. Bodnar has spearheaded several process improvement initiatives including the revised administrative attending role, NYP’s QPS Timeout Project, the ED Early Analgesic project, the peer-review published SBP Project, ED Radiology, patient navigators, MyEDCare, and launch of WCM ED/Cohen Hospital operational collaboration.
Dr. Bodnar graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and earned his MD degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY. He completed his residency training in emergency medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York, NY, where he was chief resident. Dr. Bodnar joined the faculty of Weill Cornell Medical College as an instructor in medicine in 2015. In 2018, he was named NYP-Lower Manhattan Hospital Physician of the Year. Dr. David Bodnar was accepted to the 2023 class of the NYP Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Academy, which focuses on cultivating rising-star physicians in the NYP health system.
Dr. Daniel Lakoff has been appointed Site Director of NYP-LMH Emergency Department. He will oversee all day-to-day clinical activities at NYP-LMH, including clinical care, patient experience, community outreach, and quality review.
Dr. Lakoff completed his training in emergency medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he has also completed an Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship. He was the inaugural Healthcare Leadership & Management (HLM) fellow within the WCM Department of Emergency Medicine, and now serves as Associate Director of the HLM Fellowship. Dr. Lakoff served two years as Associate Director of Emergency Medicine at NYC Health + Hospitals | Harlem before being recruited back to WCM.
